Two operating units of Severn Trent Services have been honoured for their outstanding record and achievements in health and safety in the workplace by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). C2C Services Limited, which provides full operating, maintenance and asset management services to clients such as the Ministry of Defence, won a Gold Award at the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2010. Integra Utility Services, which provides water services, including internal plumbing solutions and meter installation, won a Silver Award. Together, C2C and Integra trade as Severn Trent Services Operating Services (UK and Ireland) to provide a full range of water and wastewater services to industrial, commercial, municipal and utility clients. The Occupational Health and Safety Awards are the longest running and most highly respected occupational safety awards programme in the United Kingdom. The awards ceremony took place in Birmingham on 11 May.

C2C won the Gold Award in the first year they entered the programme. Integra won the Silver Award for the second year in a row. Both companies have engaged in intensive development of their health and safety management systems, which include key communications, training and the achievement of the Occupational Health and Safety Standard 18001.

Dave Sillitto, safety, health and environment manager for C2C Services and Severn Trent Services, accepted their award and said, “To enter this programme for the first time and win a Gold Award is an exceptional achievement and highlights the quality of our health and safety management systems.”

Accepting the award for Integra was Graham Warbrick, the company’s health and safety manager, who said, “We are very proud to win a Silver Award for occupational health and safety performance again this year. These awards demonstrate the ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards across all the Severn Trent Services companies.”

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has been at the heart of accident prevention in the UK and around the world for more than 90 years. The society promotes safety and the prevention of accidents at work, at leisure, on the road and in the home through safety education.
